Talisha's Story
Life
Military brat. Lived in Las Vegas, D.C., and Florida. Moved to New Orleans. Went to a lot of schools, a lot. Was called No Play in "AKB". Finally went to the Mac. Was in CAP, on the dance team, and sort of a clown. Loved my prom, graduation, and miss my friends. Went to UNO for a year then got bored and joined the Air Force. Served 4yrs 4mo. and 4days. Married to a guy from Philly (a Sgt. in the AF and a Minister at our church) I have 4 kids (Charles IV, Cyesha, and Cya - and a step daughter, Adria). Got out of the Air Force to be with my kids. Now we have our own business, clothing line and a Gspel Record Label (His Image g127 and His Image g127 Music). Blessed beyond what I ever thought I could be.
School
My schools. After moving to New Orleans I went to Meyer on the Westbank. I was in the 4th grade when I started there. Went to Meyer for one year then I went to Berman, also on the westbank. went there for 5th Grade. Then I went to McDonogh 32 for the Sixth grade. I was on the dance team and loved it ad the friends that I met -Anya, Alisha, Uria and her cousin, ummm. There were others - Tyra, Kerry (I think I had a crush on him, just a little one), who else. Can't remember, brain is aging. I was in Mrs. Jones' class and I think my other teachers were Mr. Cole and a Mrs. Hawkins. I think. Any Hoot. After graduating from Berman I went to L.B. Landry for, you guessed it - one year - 7th grade. I loved my art class. Allowed me to be creative and competitive. I went with a guy named Ramon, at that time was short and slim but he was cool. After Landry , my life began. I them went to Colton in the 8th ward for the 8th grade. There I met my sorority sisters - Shawnta, Shawanna, Shamira, and Tonya. It was Cool. After I left Colton, you guessed it again, after one Year, I went to the Mac. Loved it. There I met my classmates/family, in CAP. The same kids, in every period, for 4 years. Loved it and Love them all. Was a trojanette, went to prom - with some regrets but I survived it. Class night was great. I still watch the tape every now and then with my kids. nd I didn't smoke - but I thought everyone else did). Needless to say I jacked up the scholarship. I didn't want to be there any more so I joined the Military to help a friend and I ended up going alone (God knew what he was doing for me through her -- THX TrL).... Workplace
Lets see. Schwegmann on St. Claude was my first job. I became a photographer at Showtime Pictures at the foot of Canal Street. Takin pictures of people bording the Naches and the Zoo Cruise. I Joined the Military in Jan of 98. After serving 4yr 4mo and 4 dys I Became an at home mom - the greatest job I even had by far. Then in 2002, when my husband left for a 1 year tour via the Military, I became the secretary at my church. Now I am the Financial Officer and I am currently pursuing my BA in Accoutnign with the University of Phoenix, Online. Sec., Admin, Janitor, what ever I can do - I do it all. While working at the church, my husband and I began a clothing line and retail company, making me part owner, and President and CEO of His Image g127.
Military
Joined the Air Force, the best force to serve (Aim High go Air Force) in 1998. Basic was cool. I got over a lot and met a lot of people and gained some weight and lost some too. Went to Tech school in San Antonio, Tx. I became a Supply Systems Anylist (working on computers) loved it. I am a computer geek - to some extent. The first base I was stationed at was Holloman. Guess what, 6 years later, I am still here. I served 4 yrs, 4mo, and 4dys. My first, last, and only base. I've never been TDY, praise God. I met my husband here in Sept. of 98 and we Wed in Nov. of 98 (do the math) I've have 3 three kids here, all 16 months apart. Liked it while it lasted, but I will never do it again. It gives you four years to think of what you want to do with yor life (if you don't want to stay in). So for anyone that says they can't get a job, they are lying. Join the Air Force and use that time to get paid and begin to plan for the rest of your life. There is no reason under the sun to still be at home with yo momma.
